Orchard Valley Concert

Join Orchard Valley for our Winter Concert: The Journey of Halima
December 21st, 6pm ~ Montpelier High School Auditorium

In honor of the current crisis in Syria and Vermont's efforts to bring 100 refugees from Syria to Rutland, Orchard Valley Waldorf School's Winter Concert is centered around the themes of "home," "belonging," and "wandering."

The story for this year's Winter Concert is based on The Journey of Halima, a book and theater project created to empower refugee children in Greece. This story draws inspiration from Syrian folk tales and was written in an effort to help refugee children give voice to their experience while fostering healing, connection, and tolerance of differences.
Grades 2-8 have been hard at work all semester preparing songs in keeping with our concert theme. Along with traditional concert tunes such as "Lord of the Dance," these songs will be woven into our own OVWS theatrical re-telling of The Journey of Halima. We look forward to seeing you at the performance!
